In behalf of Rt. Revd. P. Theodoro Peters, S.J. President of “Pe. Sabóia de Medeiros” Ignatian Educational Foundation, Entity Sponsoring FEI University, and, on behalf of this Rector’s Office, we hereby express our joy in welcoming all of you in this entrepreneuring city of southeastern Brazil, from July 23 to 27 of 2012, for the activities of the 24^th FIUC General Meeting.

Under the subject “Teaching and Learning at the 21^st-Century Catholic Universities”, we will have the opportunity to exchange experiences on the educational challenges of the new contemporary society, revisiting the catholic universities’ role as institutions fomenting the complete education of the individual and dialogue among the nations, able to break boundaries and eradicate social inequalities.

By believing, for 70 years, that only by means of quality education it is possible to build a society that is developed, sustainable, human, and fair, the FEI University is proud of opening its doors to the members of the Catholic Universities worldwide, and desires that they may, being inspired by the Divine Wisdom and taking advantage of this favorable occasion, contribute to the aggrandizement of the formation of human values.

The challenges we face from the new social and professional relationships are so many, and they demand that the education institutions define a joint and universal agenda of actions that may enable them to assume a proactive stance on the current society. This is the spirit that must guide our work throughout the Meeting.

You can be sure that the Organizing Committee and our entire FEI Academic Community are working hard in order for all FIUC members to have the opportunity of being with us inSão Bernardo do Camponext year, be warmly welcomed and find a fertile environment for discussing such an involving subject.

We wish you a fruitful continuity of your academic activities and an excellent preparation for the travel toBrazilin 2012.
